Ben Jones has enjoyed a fairly meteoric rise, the son of Chepstow clerk Dai Jones landing the 2019 Ladbrokes Trophy on De Rasher Counter during his first season as a conditional jockey for Philip Hobbs. Since then, things have gone from strength to strength for the young Welshman, who is now the stable jockey for the up-and-coming Ben Pauling stable. As a result, he has linked up on several horses owned by Harry Redknapp, providing the former football manager with his (and Jones’s) first Cheltenham Festival winner when Shakem Up’Arry – who was bought for a ‘definitely not a wheeler dealer’ price of just €28,000 – won the 2024 TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase.
