Born in Doneraile, Darragh O’Keeffe made an immediate impact when guiding William Du Berlais to success in the summer of 2018 for Enda Bolger, and the young jockey has certainly made waves in the sport since, landing the Irish champion conditional jockey title for the 2019/2020 season. “The adrenaline rush is class, going fast down to fences and when you have one that’s jumping well – there’s no better feeling in the world for me anyway”, said O’Keeffe, and that was certainly the case when the young Cork jockey gave Maskada a peach of a ride to land his first Cheltenham Festival success in the 2023 Grand Annual. Based with Henry De Bromhead, O’Keeffe is seen by many as the long-term successor to Rachael Blackmore.
