The first of several conditional riders in this list, Dylan Johnston’s first winner came for County Antrim owner/trainer Harry Smyth who was also one of the first to give Rachael Blackmore the leg up. Clearly Smith has a good eye, as Johnston rode 19 winners in Britain last season and – a fan of snooker – Johnston got his own big break when he was signed up in the summer to be first jockey for owner Dai Walters. He’s already surpassed that number this term and is focused on catching Freddie Gingell in the Conditional Jockeys’ Championship.
