Freddie Mitchell hasn’t had the most typical of careers, having won the amateur riders’ World Fegrentri Championship in 2013 at the age of 19, after riding winners in Doha and St Moritz among other international tracks. Having spent plenty of time in France and then Lambourn, Mitchell – son of Philip Mitchell who was regarded as the best amateur of his generation – is now based with Gary and Josh Moore and has picked up a lot of rides this term, already recording his best total of winners in a season with months still to go.
Biggest win this season: Le Patron in the Coral “Daily Rewards Shaker” Handicap Chase at Newbury
