Born in County Kildare, Mark Walsh was once described by Conor O’Dwyer as ‘old school’ and the tall jockey has become one of the leading riders after taking over as retained jockey from the great Sir Anthony McCoy. Walsh rode his first Grade 1 winner on the JP McManus-owned Defy Logic at the Leopardstown Christmas festival in 2013 and has enjoyed plenty of top-level success for the leading owner since, including steering his Inothewayurthinkin to success in the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
