JOCKEYS’ CUP

A 16-year-old Sam Twiston-Davies bounded into the limelight when riding Baby Run, trained by his father Nigel, into third place in the Foxhunter Chase at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival, before winning the race on the same horse 12 months later. Baby Run was owned by Peter Orton who produced the Bob the Builder kids’ TV show and it was soon fixed that Twiston-Davies would become stable jockey for Paul Nicholls for the 2014/15 season. Plenty of success followed, and, having reverted to freelance riding in 2018, he totted up his 1,000th career win in June 2019. 

Biggest win this season: Potters Charm in the Formby Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree
