Regular rider of Edwardstone – who gave the jockey his first Cheltenham Festival winner when landing the 2022 Arkle – Tom Cannon started riding from the age of three(!) and worked his way up through the pony racing, show jumping and eventing ranks before translating that success to the point-to-point arena. He has since become a fixture of the weighing room, attached first to the stable of Chris Gordon before moving to Alan King’s Barbury Castle team. His nickname is reportedly ‘Top Cat’, but it’s riding winners that has proven to be up his alley, with over 600 career victories to date.
